| Local Plumber & Pipefitter Apprenticeship program is seeking qualified candidates. Apprenticeships are learn as you go programs that teach a specific industry trade.
Plumbers: assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for water, gas, sewage, and drainage systems according to specifications and codes. They also install and maintain sanitary facilities such as lavatories, toilets, kitchen fixtures, drinking fountains, and laundry equipment.
Pipefitters: assemble, install, and maintain pipes to carry water, steam, compressed air, gases, and fluids needed for processing, manufacturing, heating, or cooling. Pipefitters must be able to adapt and repair pipe systems and do all types of pipe welding. Pipefitters work with both high and low pressure pipes, mainly in industrial and commercial buildings. Certified Welding is often required for a particular job, and is offered as part of the educational process.
Refrigeration Fitters: install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration systems, and their respective controls which include electric, electronic, pneumatic, and direct digital controls.
This program is five years long with 8,500 hours of on-the-job training and 1,250 of in classroom instruction. Applicants will go through testing including math, reading, reasoning and aptitude. Drug screen required.
